Apr 3, 2017 · Raging Slab co-founder and guitarist Elyse Steinman has died after a three-year battle with cancer. The news was confirmed by her bandmate Greg Strzempka on their Facebook page. He says: “It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Elyse Steinman.
The group formed in 1983 when Greg Strzempka and Elyse Steinman, both guitarists, met in New York City. The two had a shared interest in the heavy rock sounds of 1970s style boogie rock and such contemporary punk rock groups as the Ramones and Black Flag.
It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of Elyse Steinman. She died on Thursday, March 30th after a three year battle with cancer. I laid her to rest that evening at a natural burial ground in Washington state as the sun was setting over the Columbia river gorge.
