Reform mayoral candidate John M. Rhodes asks private detective D. L. Trees to find a talking crow owned by ex-convict Fred Molner and tells a complicated story to explain why he wants the bird: Rhodes is engaged to Molner's sister Dorothy.
A private eye is hired by a mayoral candidate to prevent any sort of adverse publicity. It seems that, somewhere in town, there's a talking blackbird who insists upon saying that the candidate will commit a murder.
Find the Blackmailer is a breezy little B movie notable for an overly complicated plot in which everybody seems guilty of something at some point and for its endless stream of snappy patter: “Go on, beat it before I throw a moth in your muffler.”
