Madness for Love (Spanish: Locura de amor) is a 1948 Spanish historical drama film directed by Juan de Orduña.. The movie is based on the play The Madness of Love written in 1855 by Manuel Tamayo y Baus around the figure of Queen Joanna of Castile; who attracted authors, composers, and artists of the romanticist movement, due to her characteristics of unrequited love, obsessive jealousy, and undying fidelity.
The passion that Joan of Castile, daughter of the Catholic Kings and heir to the throne, feels for her husband, Philip the Handsome, sovereign of the Netherlands and son of Maximilian of Austria and Mary of Burgundy, is not reciprocated. Her temperament, her jealousy and an unexpected tragedy will throw Joan into the dark realm of madness and obsession with death, the only realm where she will be a true queen…
Locura de amor (1948) Excellent performance and very classic. A very interesting movie concerning the life of Spain's Queen JUANA LA LOCA. A wonderful way to show this true document in a dramatic way for a film. Aurora Bautista did a powerful interpretation of the mad queen. I give it a 10.
