A Child is Born is a remake of 1932's Life Begins, softened to conform to stricter movie censorship and lengthened to qualify as an "A" picture. The film is an episodic account of one particularly busy night in a maternity hospital.
Even after the babies are born, and their genders are known, they are still referred to as "it". But, it's fun to see Eve Arden in a totally straight role, or Addams Family's Grand-mama scamming a cop. Worth spending 80 minutes to watch.
Jed Sutton comes to the maternity ward of a large hospital to visit his wife Grace, a convicted murderess who has been released from prison only long enough to give birth to her child. Soon after, Mrs. Mamie West also arrives on the maternity floor to give birth to her seventh child, and is greeted by Miss Bowers, the head nurse.
