Dr. Hobart Hupp, who believes he can cure criminals by surgery, is about to experiment on Dago Red, who has been promised freedom if the operation is successful, when he is reminded that it is his wedding day.
Upon her arrival, Annabelle is intercepted by her parents, who demand that she marry the man of their choice. Dago Red comes to the doctor's rescue and they escape to an island, accompanied by Annabelle and a minister.
Crazy to Marry was one of Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle's most delightful feature-length vehicles. Arbuckle plays a doctor who hopes to cure criminals via brain surgery. In one hilarious sequence, Fatty surgically recovers several valuables-watches, gems etc.-from the abdomen of plug-ugly Bull Montana.
Directed by James Cruze (THE COVERED WAGON), CRAZY TO MARRY ran afoul of Arbuckle’s infamous 1921 rape and murder trial that, despite his ultimate acquittal, destroyed his career, and the film was pulled from distribution and virtually forgotten.
