The child, now called Naida, has grown up, believing herself to be an Arab. Her foster father, Jaradi, uses his cafe in Cairo as a cover for political activities. When Kali visits Jaradi to plot a revolt, he sees Nadia and declares he will soon have her for a wife.

Overview. When her British parents are killed when an Arabian desert bandit launches an attack on their encampment, their young daughter is spared and brought up as an Arab known as Nadia.
