In 1949 post-WWII Los Angeles, gangster Mickey Cohen ( Sean Penn) has become the most powerful figure in the California criminal underworld, and intends to continue to expand his criminal enterprise across the Western United States, forcing out his rivals in Chicago.
O'Mara begins the task of looking for officers fit for the job and successfully makes a team called the Gangster Squad. But not everything is perfect and the story in the Gangster Squad movie 2013 progresses to reveal that Cohen is being supported by some corrupt police officers.
