Fallen Leaf Lake is a mountain lake located in El Dorado County, California, near the California – Nevada state border, about one mile south west of the much larger Lake Tahoe. It is approximately aligned north-to-south and oval in shape, measuring approximately 2.9 miles (4.6 km) on the long axis and 0.9 miles (1.4 km) on the short axis.
Fallen Leaf is a beautiful spot to visit and get out on the water or enjoy excellent trails for an easy walk, strenuous hike or trail run, all with the reward of incredible views! From Highway 89 (near Camp Richardson Resort), turn onto Fallen Leaf Road and access the easier trails just past the campground.
If you're at Lake Tahoe South, it is worth to visit this small lake - Fallen Leaf Lake and the Glen Alpine Falls. The waterfall is at Lake's South. There is a turn from the road 89 to the Lake. Drive along the whole lake from North to South (on the East side) and enjoy the views.
