  2. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Walk to Freedom a walk was held June 22 of 2013, organised by the Detroit branch of the NAACP and the United Auto Workers. Titled,"We Shall Not Default On Our Freedom!". Thousands participated including Martin Luther King III, Detroit mayor Dave Bing and the Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
