May 23, 2011 · Eminent film critic, academic, director and the father of actress-filmmaker Aparna Sen, Chidananda Dasgupta passed away at his home in Kolkata late Sunday night. The 89-year-old critic was suffering from acute broncho-pneumonia and Parkinson's disease.
