Marcel "Marco" van Basten (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈmɑrkoː vɑm ˈbɑstə(n)] ⓘ; born 31 October 1964) is a Dutch former football manager and player who played for Ajax and AC Milan, as well as the Netherlands national team.
A forward of unique elegance, Van Basten joined AC Milan in summer 1987, along with Ruud Gullit, having scored impressive 152 goals in 172 games for Ajax. With the Rossoneri he won the Serie A title in his debut season.
