Bajrang Punia (born 26 February 1994) is an Indian freestyle wrestler, who competes in the 65-kg weight category. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Punia won a bronze medal by defeating Kazakhstan's Daulet Niyazbekov with a 8–0 margin. Punia is the only Indian wrestler to win 4 medals at the World Wrestling Championships.
He is the first Indian wrestler to be ranked world No. 1 in any category and the first Indian to win FOUR World Championship medals. Bajrang Punia also added to his burgeoning reputation with a bronze medal in his maiden Olympics at Tokyo 2020, battling through a knee injury to fulfill his dream.
Bajrang Punia made a remarkable Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, winning the bronze medal in the 65kg freestyle event despite battling a knee injury. In the run-up to the Summer Games, Bajrang injured his right knee during the Ali Aliyev tournament in Russia in June 2021, just a month before Tokyo 2020.
