Salif Alassane Diao (born 10 February 1977) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Diao moved from Senegal to France when he was seventeen and started his career at Monaco with whom he helped with the Trophée des Champions and Division 1.

Salif Alassane Diao (born 10 February 1977) is a Senegalese defensive midfielder who played for Liverpool between 2002 to 2007. He made 61 appearances during his time at Liverpool, scoring three goals.
Salif Diao was signed by Gerard Houllier in the summer of 2002 after playing for Senegal at the World Cup. Salif trained at Monaco's academy in Daquar, Senegal and impressed enough to be moved to their first team in 1995.
