Derartu Tulu NL COL (Oromo: Daraartuu Tulluu, Amharic: ደራርቱ ቱሉ; born 21 March 1972) is an Ethiopian former long-distance runner, who competed in track, cross country running, and road running up to the marathon distance.
Tulu became the first woman to win two gold medals in Olympic distance races. At the Athens Olympic Games in 2004, she won the bronze medal in the 10,000m (gold medallist was China's Huina Xing, silver medallist, Derartu's compatriot Ejegayehu Dibaba).

In 1992, Derartu Tulu became the first black African woman to win an Olympic gold, in somewhat of a surprise. She did so by winning the 10,000 m ahead of Elana Meyer of South Africa, with whom she had led the race most of the way, distancing the field.
