Peter Seeger (May 3, 1919 – July 9, 2013) was an American folk singer and social activist. He was a fixture on nationwide radio in the 1940s, and had a string of hit records during the early 1950s as a member of The Weavers, notably their recording of Lead Belly 's " Goodnight, Irene ," which topped the charts for 13 weeks in 1950.
Pete Seeger (born May 3, 1919, New York City, New York, U.S.—died January 27, 2014, New York City) was a singer who sustained the American folk music tradition and who was one of the principal inspirations for younger performers in the folk revival of the 1960s.
