Mae Murray (born Marie Adrienne Koenig; May 10, 1885 – March 23, 1965) was an American actress, dancer, film producer, and screenwriter. Murray rose to fame during the silent film era and was known as "The Girl with the Bee-Stung Lips" and "The Gardenia of the Screen".
Mae Murray was a silent screen star and a Ziegfeld dancer who partnered with Vernon Castle and Rudolph Valentino. She starred in The Merry Widow, The Delicious Little Devil and other films, but faded with the advent of sound.

Whimsical silent-film star Mae Murray was born on May 10, 1885, in Portsmouth, Virginia. The daughter of Austrian and Belgian immigrants, she was originally named Marie Adrienne Koenig, although she would later claim that she had always been Mae Murray. She began dancing in childhood and when she was about 21 appeared on Broadway in About Town.
