Feb 7, 2015 · Veteran theatre and film actor Atmaram Bhende, considered to be a pioneer in the field of Marathi experimental theatre, breathed his last at Ratna Memorial Hospital in Pune at the age of 93. The actor who was seen in many ads was also a part of Raju Hirani 's ' Lage Raho Munnabhai ' and the Marathi film ' Yanda Kartavya Aahe '.
Sadanand (Nandu) Bhende was the son of the Marathi actor-director Atmaram Bhende and Dr Asha Bhende (Born Lily Ezekiel Talkar of The Jewish Indian Bene Israel community). He was a theater artist, singer, music composer, music producer.

Atmaram was the father of late Nandu Bhende, a popular rock singer. Bhende, fondly referred to as Bapu, was born on May 7, 1923. He completed his engineering from VJTI in 1945.
