Rade Šerbedžija rođen je u mjestu Bunić kod Korenice, 27. srpnja 1946. godine. Diplomirao 1969. godine na Akademiji za kazalište, film i televiziju u Zagrebu, nakon čega je ubrzo angažiran u zagrebačkome Dramskom kazalištu "Gavella". Nakon toga naizmjenično radi kao slobodni umjetnik, s angažmanom u HNK u Zagrebu, te ponovno u "Gavelli".
