Sarah Hall is Professor of Practice at the University of Cumbria and Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. She is an honorary fellow of Aberystwyth University and the University of Cumbria, and a fellow of the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Italy.
Sarah Hall was born in Cumbria in 1974. She took a degree in English and Art History at Aberystwyth University, and began to take writing seriously from the age of twenty, first as a poet, several of her poems appearing in poetry magazines, then as a fiction-writer.
Hall has won the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize, and the BBC National Short Story Award. In 2013, she was selected as one of Granta’s Best of Young British Novelists, and her third novel The Carhullan Army was listed as one of The Times 100 Best Books of the Decade.
