Nissar started his career as a theatre artist. He has been performing in the famous Hindi theatre play Mughal-E-Azam: The Musical for a very long time, in which he portrays Emperor Jalal-ud-din Muhammad Akbar. He is also known for appearing in the theatre play Arre O’Henry.

Nissar made his TV serial debut with ‘Naa Aana Iss Des Laado’ in 2009, which aired on Colors. He played the role of Joginder Sangwan and was a replacement for the Indian actor Tarun Anand. He has acted in various Hindi TV serials like ’24’ (2013; Colors), ‘Mahabharat’ (2013; Star Plus), and ‘Court Room: Sachchai Hazir Ho’ (2019; Colors). He often plays the role of a police officer Adil Khan in the popular episodic TV series ‘Crime Patrol.’

In 1990, he made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Tum Mere Ho,’ as Nisar Khan. He has played supporting roles in many popular Hindi films like ‘Keher’ (1999), ‘Lakshya’ (2004), ‘Don’ (2006), ‘Airlift’ (2016), ‘Veerappan’ (2019), and ‘IB 71’ (2023).
