Janet Gaynor (born Laura Augusta Gainor; October 6, 1906 – September 14, 1984) was an American film, stage and television actress as well as an accomplished oil painter. Gaynor began her career as an extra in shorts and silent films.
Janet Gaynor was a silent film star who won the first Oscar for best actress in 1929. She also starred in A Star Is Born and other classic films, and appeared in TV shows and Broadway plays later in her career.
