Apr 10, 2003 · Bill Basch was born in 1927 in the small village of Szaszovo, in the Carpathian Mountains of eastern Czechoslovakia which today is part of western Ukraine. His father owned the largest store in the village. Bill grew up in a traditional Jewish household.
