An '80s-influenced electronic pop record, Starfucker explores a "dramatized" and satirical view of Hollywood, focusing on the culture of drugs, vanity, and celebrity. "STARFUCKER" is the sophomore record by American singer-songwriter Slayyyter. It was released on September 22, 2023.
On July 24th, 2022 Slayyyter tweeted, "album almost done" with a kiss emoji later the same week she then tweeted, "one sec im finishing it all!!" Along with a clock and hand hearts emojis after replying to a fan.
On an interview with Out, on November 1st 2022, Slayyyter described her upcoming project as "a really crazy album about love and fame and Hollywood and sex and drugs, because I've been living in LA for three years absolutely going off my rockers."
In early 2023 multiple tracks from the album's sessions leaked online. The first major leaked happened in January, where a few demos leaked. In June, final versions of some of the songs leaked online.
In a Twitter Q&A, shortly after the album's announcement, Slayyyter described her inspiration behind the sound of the album:
The first single "Out Of Time" was released on June 9, 2023, alongside a visualiser. The second single "Miss Belladonna" was released on July 21, 2023. The standard artwork was revealed on July 20th, along with the tracklist and title of the album, on Slayyyter's social media accounts. An alternate cover is used on the "Glass" vinyl variant. The alternate cover was supposed to be the standard cover used on the digital release, but was too explicit. The Walmart exclusive vinyl release features a different alternate cover.
The cover was shot by Evan Sheehan, styling, makeup and hair were done by Malcom Smith, Ashley Zimel and Robert J Stell respectively.
The physical releases of the album were set on pre-sale shortly after the album's announcement. There are four vinyl varients and a CD release that are expected to ship the week of September 25.
The official tracklist was revealed on July 21, 2023.
