Jayant Desai (born Jayantilal Jhinabhai Desai, 28 February 1909 – 19 April 1976) was an Indian film director and producer. After graduating from the University of Bombay Desai joined Ranjit Studios in 1929 where he directed numerous films including Toofani Toli (1937), Tansen (1943), Har Har Mahadev (1950) and Amber (1952).

Tansen (Hindi: तानसेन) is a 1943 Indian Hindi language film directed by Jayant Desai, featuring K. L. Saigal and Khursheed Bano in the lead roles. The film was based on Tansen, the 16th century musician in the court of Mughal emperor, Akbar.
Prolific film director and producer of the early era of Indian cinema, Jayant Desai is known for films such as Sitamgarh (1934), College Kanya (1935), Tansen (1943) and Amber (1952). Beginning in the silent period of Hindi films in the 1930s, he went on to direct through the decades, till the 1960s.
