Steven John Carell ( / kəˈrɛl /; born August 16, 1962) is an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his role as Michael Scott in the NBC sitcom The Office (2005–2011, 2013), in which he also worked at several points as a producer, executive producer, writer, and director.
