Keep Britain Untidy is the first solo album from Tom Hingley, the ex-frontman of The Inspiral Carpets. The album is his first studio album since the split of Inspiral Carpets.
Jul 10, 2000 · The album features only Hingley's voice and acoustic guitar (with no overdubs), a far cry from the cascading, retro-organ grooves of Inspiral Carpets. After being relatively out of sight after the dissolution of his former band in the mid-'90s, Hingley re-emerges here as an even finer singer than before.
Inspiral Carpets broke up in 1995 and Hingley started a career as a solo artist, releasing Keep Britain Untidy (2000) and Soulfire (2002), on his label Newmemorabilia Records. [ citation needed ] Inspiral Carpets later reformed in 2003 to promote their Greatest Hits and tour the UK.
