Donald Rodney Schain (February 26, 1941 – December 26, 2015) [1] was an American director, writer, and producer of many films and TV movies, notably for the Disney Channel. Schain joined the movie industry in the early 1970s, directing his then-wife, Cheri Caffaro , in several low-budget exploitation films, including the Ginger trilogy.
Writer/director/producer Don Schain made his feature debut with the softcore outing The Love Object (1970). A former Manhattan movie theater manager, Schain and his partner Ralph T. Desiderio conceived the idea for the notoriously trashy "Ginger" exploitation picture trilogy in 1970.

When I interviewed him for my book Blaxploitation Cinema: The Essential Reference Guide he impressed me with his acerbic humor and encyclopedic knowledge of the behind-the-scenes world of the film and distribution industries.
