Born in Ahmedabad in India, Shuchi Kothari studied writing at Texas University, then moved to Aotearoa in 1997. Since then she has created short films and two features: 2008 family drama Apron Strings (which was invited to 15 festivals) and the Indian-shot Firaaq , which marked the directorial debut of Fire star Nandita Das.
