May 21, 2022 · Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court Friday dismissed an election petition filed by Alo Rani Sarkar, a Trinamool candidate for the Bangaon Dakshin constituency in last year’s West Bengal Assembly elections, on the ground that she was a “foreign national” — a citizen of Bangladesh — when she had fought the elections.
