Sidney Torch MBE (born Sidney Torchinsky; 5 June 1908 – 16 July 1990) was a British pianist, cinema organist, conductor, orchestral arranger and a composer of light music. [1] Early life. Torch was born of Russian Jewish origin to a Ukrainian father, Morris Torchinsky, and an Estonian mother, Annie, at 27 Tottenham Court Road in St Pancras, London.
Sidney Torch (1908-1990) was a leading composer-conductor of familiar orchestral music and a famed British organist. He composed and conducted for radio, TV, movies and records, and was known for his tyrannical personality and his theme music for SpongeBob SquarePants.
