The Meg is a 2018 science fiction action film directed by Jon Turteltaub from a screenplay by Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber, loosely based on the 1997 novel Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten. Erich Hoeber is an American screenplay writer and producer, who started his career with the film Montana (1998), followed by Whiteout (2009). Hoeber's breakthrough came with Lionsgate's action comedy Red (2010) and its sequel Red 2 (2012). His other projects include The Meg (2018).
