Varun Grover (born 26 January 1980) is an Indian writer, comedian, poet, actor and filmmaker. He won the award for Best Lyricist at the 63rd National Film Awards in 2015. He is also the co-creator of Aisi Taisi Democracy, a political satire show. His debut feature All India Rank was the closing film at the 52nd IFFR.
He wrote lyrics for famous films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Udta Punjab, Zubaan, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Newton, Fan, Raman Raghav 2.0, and Bombay Velvet. Except for movies, he is also considered as an active writer for popular TV shows like The Great Indian Comedy Show, 10 Ka Dum, Jay Hind!, Ranvir Vinay Aur Kaun?, and Oye! It’s Friday!.
Varun Grover was born on 26th January, 1980 in Sundernagar (Himachal Pradesh) to a school-teacher mother and army engineer father. He spent his initial years in Sundernagar and Dehradun (then in Uttar Pradesh) before moving to state capital Lucknow for his adolescent years.
