Prof. (Dr.) Tapan Kumar Biswas, a distinguished scholar and educator, has dedicated his life to the study and preservation of folklore and folk literature.
Dr. Tapan Biswas, Inspector General (Medical) to the grade of Additional Director General (Medical) in the Combined Medical Cadre of CAPFs, NSG & ARS in Level-15 of the Pay Matrix for the panel year 2023 with effect from the date of assumption of charge of the post and until further orders.
On 3rd July 2010, Tapan unexpectedly and prematurely died of a heart attack at his home in Cottingham in East Yorkshire. At the time of his death he was still fully active and had a few articles ready for publication while other projects were under way. He died as he lived: peacefully and surrounded by the love of his family.
