The Mathis brothers recorded together as Dean & Marc for the Chess record label. [ 1] In 1959, their single "Tell Him No" entered the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at no. 42 that year. [ 2] They started their own eight-piece band and played in their hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana.
