Hooke worked with Robert Boyle (1627-91) as his paid assistant. He also collaborated with scientists as diverse as Christian Huygens (1629-95), Anton van Leeuwenhoek (1632-1723), Chrisotpher Wren (1632-1723) and Isaac Newton (1642-1727). Hooke’s reputation suffered from his many controversies with other scientists over question of priority.
