The Aam Aadmi Party ( transl. Common Man 's Party; abbr. AAP) is a political party in India. It was founded on 26 November 2012 by Arvind Kejriwal and his then-companions, [23] following the 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement against then Indian government of Indian National Congress.
Women and men, old and young, poor and rich – all were welcome as aam aurats and aam aadmis in this new party. The AAP pioneered the crowd-sourced model of electoral fundraising in India with small donations running the party right from the beginning.
Aam Aadmi Party was formed on 2 October 2012, on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji. AAP was born out the India Against Corruption movement, spearheaded by crores of common people in our country. Along with innovative campaigns, Aam Aadmi Party pioneered crowd-sourced and transparent political funding.
Aam Aadmi Party is perhaps the only political party in independent India that fulfilled a large majority of its election promises made in the last assembly elections.
