Jun 14, 2024 · Kurnool Medical College (KMC) in Kurnool was established in 1956, commencing its academic activities with an initial intake of 50 students in the MBBS programme in 1957. The Government General Hospital in Kurnool serves as the primary teaching hospital for the students enrolled at Kurnool Medical College.
In Government Order Ms. No. 1835, Health, dated 29 November 1955, the government of Andhra passed orders to establish a medical college, the third one in the state at Kurnool. As the building was not ready for the college the government decided to admit 50 students intended for Kurnool Medical College at Kurnool City in July 1956.
In 1956, Kurnool Medical college was started with mere 50 students where as today it has 200 students graduating from here every year.
