Overview. The Department of Electrical Engineering (EE) at IIT Patna was established in 2008. Since its establishment, the department has been continuously growing in terms of student strength, faculty strength, infrastructure, laboratory, and other learning facilities. The department maintains an excellent student-to-faculty ratio.
IIT patna started M.Tech program in 2012 with three specialisations. Subsequently, based on industry need and demand in the job market, continous expansion of M.Tech specialisation for imparting postgraduate education in engineering in technology has comeup on as date with M.Tech program in15 specilisations that are considered important with multitaksing skill and aptitude.

Dr. Pranay Ranjan, an erstwhile Ph.D. student of the Department of Physics, IIT Patna has joined as an Assistant Professor at IIT Jodhpur. Dr. Pranay Ranjan defended his thesis on February 25, 2019 and was a post-doctoral fellow working at the College of Science, UAE University before joining IIT Jodhpur.
