Synopsis. Raj Malhotra (Shah Rukh Khan) and Simran Singh (Kajol) are both non-resident Indians (NRI) living in London. Simran is raised by her parents, Baldev Singh (Amrish Puri) and Lajwanti (Farida Jalal). Baldev Singh is a very strict, harsh and no-nonsense father.
