They had soon fallen in love and tied the knot in the year 1973. Tanuja and Shomu had embraced their parenthood journey with the arrival of Kajol in 1974.
Veteran actor Tanuja turns 79 on Friday. The actor, who worked in hit movies such as Haathi Meri Saathi, Do Chor and Anubhav, is also mother to actors Kajol and Tanishaa Mukherjee.

Tanuja Samarth, known mononymously as Tanuja, is an Indian actress who predominantly works in the Hindi film industry. Part of the Mukherjee-Samarth family, she is the daughter of actress Shobhna Samarth and producer Kumarsen Samarth, and was married to filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee, with whom she has two daughters, actresses Kajol and Tanisha.
It marks the return of tanuja mukherjee to Bengali films after a long gap. The veteran actress plays a 70-year-old woman Uma, who lives alone in a rundown Kolkata house.
