Kaanekkaane is similar to the 2019 film Uyare, which portrayed complex and real people with character flaws and even healing abilities, but adds more layers to the complexities with regard to human bonds.

Every character in the film is crumbling under the weight of their own guilt. They go back and agonise over every decision they ever made in their lives, hoping they could have done something differently.
Kaanekkaane is a second venture of Manu Ashokan along with Bobby-Sanjay's script and this time it is a very different approach that focuses on the themes of guilt and grief. When I read the plot synopsis, I thought it could be a generic melodrama film that won't be like eye opening twisted mystery thriller movie but I was bit wrong.
