To me, A Serbian Film is just a violent movie that tries to be edgy without actually attempting to make you think about it. Irreversible is handling a several very uncomfortable subjects that encourages difficult discussions. Apr 5, 2017 · A Serbian Film is a foul, stinking corpse of a movie, and Spasojevic is kicking the shit out of it. But for what? There’s no point to any of it, no message or moral. He isn’t even kicking with any finesse. It’s just thoughtless, artless stamping for no purpose other than being able to turn to the stunned onlookers, arms outstretched, drenched in offal.

While well-made on a technical level, the blood and gore on display has a playful look to it like something from a Grindhouse movie.This does rob the more shocking moments of their power, which I don’t think was the intention behind an otherwise purposeful directorial choice.
