The Royal College of Art (RCA) is the only entirely postgraduate art and design university in the world. It was originally founded in 1837 as the Government School of Design. It was renamed the Normal Training School of Art in 1857 and in 1896 it became the Royal College of Art.
The School engages with design on multiple levels, from the highly conceptual to the deeply practical, with a strong culture of innovation, experimentation and debate. Programmes are supported by staff with reputations in world-leading research, teaching and practice.
