Stephen Robert Macht was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to Janette (Curlenjik) and Jerome Irving Macht. He is of Russian Jewish descent. He starred as "Proctor" in "The Crucible", "Orsino" in "12th Night", and "Dunois" in "Saint Joan" at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada, where he was scouted and signed by Universal Television to come to Hollywood to begin his film career.
Macht was born in The Bronx, New York City. He is the son of Suzanne Victoria Pulier, a museum curator and archivist, and actor Stephen Macht. He has three siblings: Jesse, a musician (who appeared on The Next Great American Band), Ari Serbin, and Julie. His family is Jewish. Macht was raised in California from the age of five.

Stephen Macht (born 1 May 1942; age 82) is the actor who played Krim in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine second season episodes "The Circle" and "The Siege". In 1987, Macht was considered for the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation and was considered for the role of Benjamin Sisko.
