Mark Mothersbaugh has undoubtedly paid his dues when it comes to patching things in. The earliest incarnation of Devo existed as long ago as 1972, and Mothersbaugh, Casale and their bandmates worked almost entirely in isolation until the late '70s, stranded in the rapidly degenerating industrial backwater of Akron, Ohio.
