Jul 2, 2020 · The book of Revelation is addressed to believers, “his servants,” of the churches in seven cities of the Roman province of Asia. Those churches were in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadephia, and Laodicea. The book is also written to all believers everywhere.
The Book of Revelation or Book of the Apocalypse is the final book of the New Testament (and therefore the final book of the Christian Bible). Written in Koine Greek, its title is derived from the first word of the text: apokalypsis, meaning 'unveiling' or 'revelation'. The Book of Revelation is the only apocalyptic book in the New Testament canon.
Revelation 1. Prologue. ( Daniel 12:1–13) 1 This is the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what must soon a come to pass. He made it known by sending His angel to His servant John, 2 who testifies to everything he saw. This is the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
The biblical meaning of the term “revelation” refers to God’s act of communicating unknown truths and facts about Himself that He wants man to know. Otherwise, the human race would never be able to know God in this life. God reveals Himself in two ways to us: through general revelation and specific revelation.
Revelation is the supernatural communication of truth to the mind; inspiration (q.v.) secures to the teacher or writer infallibility in communicating that truth to others.
