Though ultimately marred by an unfortunate mustache-twirler of a villain and questionable stunt work, Simon Wincer's "D.A.R.Y.L." is an appealing, family-friendly science fiction film. Touching on classic genre themes like sentience and what it means to exist, the film has enough of a brain to satisfy sci-fi fans and enough of a heart to move a patient audience.
