St. Mary’s Church. The earliest Anglican church of Bridgetown, a wooden structure, was built here in 1630. With the growth of Bridgetown, this church was abandoned c. 1660 and a new one built at the present location of St. Michael’s Cathedral. The graveyard, however, continued to be used for burials of the enslaved and free coloured population.
