1. Z (1969) “Z” is a 1969 political thriller film directed by Costa-Gavras, based on the novel of the same name by Vassilis Vassilikos. The film tells the story of the assassination of a left-wing Greek politician and the investigation that follows, as a prosecutor tries to uncover the truth behind the crime.
Biografie (2) Francouzský oscarový režisér Costa-Gavras má řecký původ a narodil se jako Konstantinos Gavras v chudé rodině na řeckém venkově. Za války žila rodina na Peloponésu, po roce 1945 pak v Athénách. Konstantinův otec byl za války příslušníkem levicového odboje a po válce byl pro podezření z komunismu vězněn.
Costa-Gavras was born as Konstantinos Gavras on 12 February 1933, in Loutra Iraias, then a village in the Peloponnese region of southern Greece, to Russian-born father and Greek mother. Senior Gavras, a tax official at Athens, was an anti-royalist and took part in the left wing resistance movement during the Nazi occupation.
