Sep 15, 2020 · The wonderfully stylized look of “Sunrise” has major traces of the German Expressionist film movement (a movement in film, primarily in the 1920s - which I particularly love). The asymmetrical framing, forced perspectives, off kilter tables, slanted ceilings, angles, lighting, and shadows are all indicative of that style of film, of which director F.W. Murnau was a key figure.
